Josef war ursprünglich Bäcker. 1801 zog er - nach P. Rupert Amschwand mit &quot;Todesverachtung&quot; - zum Schutz der Juden von Endingen und Lengnau gegen Zürcher Bauern aus.&lt;ref&gt;Amschwand, Abt Adalbert Regli, S. 278.&lt;/ref&gt; Er war ein Spätberufener. Er legte 1807 Profess im Kloster Muri ab und wurde [[Lehrer]] in der Klosterschule. 1814 war er [[Lehrer]] der I. Rhetorik, 1816 der II. Rhetorik. 1818 übernahm er schliesslich beide Rhetorikklassen. 1814 bis 1816 war er [[Präzeptor]] der Schule und übernahm das Amt 1818 ein weiteres Mal und war zudem [[Präfekt]]. Ab 1825 wirkte er als Pfarrer in [[Wohlen]]. P. Josef war wegen seiner Bildung und seiner Klugheit sehr angesehen und vielfach als Ratgeber tätig. Er war auch Dichter. Rhetorik. 1818 übernahm er schliesslich beide Rhetorikklassen. 1814 bis 1816 war er [[Präzeptor]] der Schule und übernahm das Amt 1818 ein weiteres Mal und war zudem [[Präfekt]]. Ab 1825 wirkte er als Pfarrer in [[Wohlen]]. P. Josef war wegen seiner Bildung und seiner Klugheit sehr angesehen und vielfach als Ratgeber tätig. Er war auch Dichter.
